thatssowoolard asked: I actually don't know about the other candy. My mom actually bought the Cadbury egg for me when she was out the other day. She knows how much I love them so she grabbed me one. Hope you are feeling better!
I’ll have to look around when I’m in Target again. Also - feeling a lot better since the weekend.
RRoD
Well - it’s official. My Xbox 360 has bit the big one due to hardware failure. Sigh. I was hoping this event would delay itself for a little while longer. At the very least, I was hoping it would wait until I wasn’t sick at home, coughing up a lung and unable to do much else. Will have to find something else to pass the time…that doesn’t involve watching “Maury” to see who’s “not the father” to a string of baby mamas.
Back in the saddle again
I’m baaaack! I haven’t made time for blogging in quite a long while. I’ve been up to a lot since I was last here:
1) Started a business which wound up limping to an end. Learned a valuable (albeit, costly) lesson in the four P’s.
2) Started another business for less money and I’m already starting to see some returns from that. Still working on finding new customers, but the cost, effort and stress is significantly less than the prior business. Plus, it’s already starting to pay me, which is fantastic.
3) Realized that I suddenly become a morning person when I catch a head cold which won’t allow me to get a proper night’s sleep. I might have to compensate with a nap later today.
4) Found that early morning, before everyone gets up, is a good time to blog and clear your head before the start of a new day. Oh - and the iPad is a real convenient device to help make that happen.
This is not a blog post about feet. I mean, feet are great, I just don’t think they have too much to do with realizing ideas. However, if you’re looking for information about foot fetishes, about 90% of internet content and emails should be able to cater to your needs.
However, this blog post…
/agree!
Oops - I put too much tea in my cup today. It looks like I have river plants growing in there. :-)
Crappiest. Packer. Ever.
Ugh. I am such a lousy suitcase packer, it’s unbelievable. Somehow, even with the best of intentions, I manage to save my packing for the 11th hour (literally) right before a trip. I go through this weird space in my head where I can’t make up my mind on what to take (even if I know what I’m doing ahead of time). I have to keep making packing lists or my brain just shuts down.
Cameo
Haven’t posted here in a while; thought I’d just pop over for a bit to say “yo”. I’ve been busy with getting things in order for my side business and blogging about it here:
Most of my waking/breathing/walking/thinking moments are now devoted to getting my little startup to be a “stayup”. It’s getting there, little by little. It takes time and a bit of effort to make it happen. I’ve been spending the past three weeks building out my little booth at a local flea market. That’s almost complete and ready to launch. Now I just need to keep my brain together long enough for that to happen…
Holy Capital, Batman!
This should come as no shock to experienced entrepreneurs, but just when you think you’ve infused enough capital to get the ball rolling, something comes along and sucker punches you for a moment.
My “sucker punch” was finding out I need to provide not one, but two months of rent in advance. Oops. The lesson here for anyone who wants to start their own business is: estimate how much you’ll think you’ll need in your budget, then double that number.
Changing course
Gorram it. Tumblr for iPhone refuses, for some reason, to save the draft I wrote on the iPhone so I can finish it on the computer. Boo. Hiss. Anyway, back to the reason why I’m writing this at 2 AM…
Typically, this blog has covered incidents happening to me, my thoughts on technology, and random bits of, well, stuff. Lately, however, there has been a paradigm shift in my life.
I am finding myself switching roles from worker bee to entrepreneur. This shift is happening because I recognize that I may be on the precipice of being sacked from my “day job”. The signs are all there: new executive management, an entire team focused on revenue through cost cutting and acquisitions vs. growth and creation of new products, the decreasing political capital (aka “influence”) of my direct line of managers due to their boss (who seems to favor the “command and control” approach to work), the new boss performing micromanagement of the decisions of his directs…it’s not pretty. But of course, people are letting the guy do whatever because they don’t want to lose their jobs and livelihood.
So, I looked at my situation and decided that I need to either “put up or shut up”. I needed to get something done for me from an economic standpoint so I wouldn’t be a slave to the W-2 forever and ever.
To that point, I am starting a NEW blog to act as my sounding board for the things I learn about running a business, as I make my first foray into being a business owner. I’ll probably be writing here a little less since most of my brainpower will be devoted to getting my business up, running, self-sustaining and (God-willing and the creek don’t rise) PROFITABLE. If you want to follow my exploits, you can do so at miyobu.tumblr.com.
